Mission
Since 1982, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services of Volusia and Flagler Counties, Inc. has been helping to bridge the communication gap between the Hearing world and the Deaf world acquainting Hearing Impaired people with the opportunities available to them in the areas of education, culture, recreation, political and social activities.

DHHS Banner Pic
To have hearing loss is to be cut off from conventional methods of communicating.  Whether this isolation from society stems from slight hearing loss or total deafness, it is sometimes difficult and in many cases traumatic.  Our clients are not only the thousands of Hearing-Impaired in Volusia and Flagler counties, but also the Hearing people who have a need to communicate with, serve or be served by these Hearing-Impaired individuals.

The Florida Coordinating Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (FCCDHH) presented its 2009 report to the Governor and Legislature (Click here to read the full report): Status report:

3 million Floridians at risk.

Nearly 3 million Floridians are deaf or hard of hearing…impacting countless others whose lives are affected by family members with hearing loss.

The FCCDHH has 13 governor-appointed volunteer members and four state agency designees. It is mandated by statute to serve as an advisory and coordinating body which recommends policies that address the needs of persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened and deaf-blind, as well as methods that improve the coordination of services among public and private entities and to provide technical assistance, advocacy and education.
